(Tucson, A.Z.) – Today, State Representative Kirsten Engel announced her endorsement of Ann Kirkpatrick to represent Arizona’s Second Congressional District.
“Ann is the champion Southern Arizonans need to fight for them in Congress. She has unequivocally supported Arizona’s public education movements like Red for Ed, sounded the alarm on the Trump Administration’s many environmental protection rollbacks, and has been outspoken in the battle for common sense gun reform. While in Congress, Ann has introduced and co-sponsored bills that empower rural communities, protect our water, and expand healthcare for all. She is an experienced legislator and an accessible leader, and I couldn’t be more proud to endorse her for a second term representing CD-2,” said Representative Engel.
Representative Engel was first elected to the State Legislature in 2016. She is currently serving her second term in the Arizona House and is also running for State Senate. As both a lauded law professor at the University of Arizona and a mother, Kirsten is a fierce advocate for quality public education, environmental protection, a better-serving economy and a fairer criminal justice system. As a State Representative, she has expanded her work to include Criminal Justice Reform as Ranking Democrat of the Judiciary Committee.
