United Food and Commercial Workers Local 99 Endorses Ann Kirkpatrick
(Tucson) – In another sign of gathering momentum, Ann Kirkpatrick has won the endorsement of Local 99 of the United Food & Commercial Workers, the powerhouse union of 22,000 supermarket workers, hospital workers, museum employees and more.
With members who work across Pima and Cochise Counties at Fry’s food stores, Safeway, the Copper Queen Community Hospital, the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum, Southern Arizona Legal Aid, and Waste Management of Tucson, UFCW has demonstrated a strong ability to organize in Southern Arizona.
“Ann Kirkpatrick has a proven record of standing up in Congress for working families,” said Jim McLaughlin, Local 99 President. “Whether you’re talking about her support for the DREAM Act, for fair treatment in the workplace, or for good affordable health care, Ann has the courage to do the right thing even when it isn’t the easy thing. We’re behind her 100%.”
“I am thrilled to earn the support of the United Food and Commercial Workers,” said Kirkpatrick. “If we are going to move forward and thrive with Trump in the White House, we’re going to have to organize, and no one knows organizing in Arizona the way that UFCW does. I look forward to having them at my side as I represent working men and women in Congress.”
